Understanding the power of purpose

Blog Details

To great extent, we create our fate every single day, and majority of the problem we suffer are directly traceable to our own lack of purpose; our purpose choose how we respond to situations.

Remember, this question we often ask ourselves drives the meaning we create and the attitude we have about everything.

The truth about live is that our purpose is what choose our attitude, our attitude is what moves us forward. And doing so will help us change things from the inside out, and ultimately gives meaning to our life.

Understanding the power of purpose will support us to choose a positive attitude.

UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF PURPOSE

There are two kinds of people:

  1. The biggest things in life are not materials
  2. Those who are driven by purpose

Thomas Carlye – “The man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder – a waif, a nothing, a no man.”
The truth about life is everyone’s life is driven by something.

Common 5 wrong driven force for purpose:
1) People are driven by revenge/hurt – most people allow their entire lives running from guilt and shame. Hurt–driven people are unconsciously punished by past-trauma.
2) A person driven by anger/resentment – your past is past, learn from the lesson and let it go – nothing changes the past but you can always change how you unfold to present situation.
3) People are driven by fear – remember fear allow you to miss great opportunities in life due to fear of unrealistic expectation, growing up in a high-control environment. Fear is a self – imposed prison.
4) People are driven by misconception – desires to acquire more material things because the purpose of their life. It is a delusion that satisfaction is in material things. The truth is possessions only provide temporary happiness because there will always be new items, better versions coming up. Self worth and net worth are not the same. Your value in life is not determined by your valuables. No wonder, God says that the most valuable things in life are not things. We should set our mind on things above. The truth about money and its luxury is that it exposes you.
5) People driven by life – life controlled, guided and focused by God’s purposes. Nothing matter than pleasing God not success, wealth, fame or pleasure.

NOTE!!! – Without a God-given purpose, life is motion without meaning, activity without direction, and events without reason. Without a God-given purpose, life is trivial, petty and pointless.

BENEFITS OF PURPOSE–DRIVEN LIVING

  1. Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life “without God, life has no purpose and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope. “The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without purpose.”
  2. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life. It anchors/defines what you do and what you don’t do. Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activities are essential and which aren’t. People who don’t know their purpose try to do too much – and that causes stress, fatigue, and conflict. “A pretentious showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life.” It also leads to peace of mind: “You, Lord give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.”
  3. Knowing your purpose focuses your life. It concentrates your effort and energy on what’s important. You become absolutely effective by being selective. Without a clear purpose, you will keep changing directions, jobs, relationships, churches, or other externals – hoping each change will settle the confusion or fill the emptiness in your heart. You think, maybe this time it will be different, but it doesn’t solve your real problem – a lack of focus and purpose. The Bible says, “Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants.” There is nothing quite as potent as a focused life, one lived on purpose – Paul said – “I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” It is very important we’re not confusing activity with productivity because we can be very busy without a purpose.
“If you want your life to have an impact, focus it!”
  4. Knowing your purpose motivates your life – show me a passionate man; I will show you a man driven by purpose. Nothing energizes like a clear purpose. On the other hand, passion dissipates when you lack a purpose.
  5. Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity – many people spend their lives trying to create a lasting legacy on earth. They want to be remembered when they’re gone. Yet, what ultimately matters most will not be what others say about your life but what God says. You weren’t put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity. In eternity you will be questioned on your account with Jesus Christ and what you do with the talent God gave you.
“Living on purpose is the path to peace”
